On August 7, 2025, Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) hosted a cordial meeting with Boeing Vietnam at its headquarters to explore future collaboration opportunities, with a particular focus on the deployment of the next-generation Boeing 777X aircraft.
The meeting was chaired by ACV Deputy General Director Nguyen Duc Hung, with the participation of leaders from Tan Son Nhat International Airport and representatives from ACV’s functional departments. The Boeing Vietnam delegation was led by Mr. Michael Nguyen – Country Director, along with technical, safety, and legal representatives from the Asia-Pacific region.
Meeting Overview
During the meeting, Boeing Vietnam introduced its latest aircraft model – the Boeing 777X, which includes two versions: the 777-9 and the 777-8F. According to Boeing, the 777-9 is currently undergoing certification procedures with the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and is expected to enter commercial service in 2026. The 777-8F version is projected to begin operations in 2028.
Boeing Vietnam representatives highlighted that the Boeing 777X features a flexible folding wing design, allowing compatibility with airport standards ranging from Code E to Code F as classified by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). This design offers operational advantages at airports with diverse infrastructure.

Boeing expressed deep gratitude to ACV for its support and effective cooperation with Boeing aircraft over the years. They also conveyed their desire to deploy the Boeing 777X at airports managed by ACV in the future, especially Tan Son Nhat International Airport and Long Thanh International Airport.
ACV also showed interest in the potential operation of this modern aircraft in the future. The corporation appreciated Boeing’s ongoing research related to aircraft operations, flight management, and market analysis, considering these valuable resources for airport system planning and development.
During the meeting, both parties agreed to collaborate on in-depth safety studies related to the operation of new aircraft models, ensuring the highest safety standards in all operational activities.
