Starting July 25, 2025, Tuy Hoa Airport officially implements an electronic identification, authentication, and biometric recognition system for passengers completing domestic boarding procedures via the VNeID application.
The deployment of this technology aims to realize the digital transformation initiative of the Government, Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), and Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), while also enhancing service quality, shortening procedure times, and ensuring aviation security.
1. Facial Recognition Technology – A New Step in Aviation Procedures:
- With this solution, passengers perform facial authentication at the security check point and the boarding gate, replacing the need to present personal identification documents as before. This provides a fast, accurate, and secure experience.
- After successful authentication, the gate opens automatically for the passenger to pass through without needing contact with airline staff.
2. Benefits for Passengers
- No need to carry multiple documents: Only a chip-based Citizen Identity Card or a Level 2 VNeID account is required.
- Saves time: Speeds up procedures and reduces queuing time, especially during peak hours.
- Enhanced security: Minimizes the risk of identity fraud and ensures information security.
- Smart and modern experience: A fully biometric journey – no physical contact required.
3. What Do Passengers Need to Prepare?
- Install the VNeID application on their smartphone.
- Register for a Level 2 identification account.
- Ensure personal information and a portrait photo are fully updated.
- Activate the "Air Travel" feature and consent to sharing biometric data during the procedure.
4. Some Notes for Passengers
- Update to a Level 2 VNeID electronic identification account and ensure you are using the latest version of the application (This applies only to passengers aged 14 and over);
- Download and update the latest mobile application of Vietnam Airlines or Vietjet Air to support quick information confirmation;
- Carry valid personal identification (Citizen Identity Card, passport, etc.) as a backup in case of technical issues with the biometric system.
5. Guide to the 3-Step Biometric Procedure
The implementation of the biometric recognition technology solution at Tuy Hoa Airport is a significant step in the digital transformation process of the aviation industry. It contributes to enhancing service efficiency and ensuring security and safety, while offering passengers a more modern and convenient travel experience than ever before.
