On June 19, 2025, Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) hosted a high-level meeting with a delegation from the Netherlands Embassy in Vietnam at ACV’s headquarters. The meeting, led by ACV Deputy General Director Nguyen Duc Hung, included representatives from various functional departments. Representing the Netherlands Embassy were Ambassador Kees van Bar, Consul General Daniel Stock, First Secretary Fleur Gribnau, and Policy Officer Le Thi Huong Giang.
Overview of the meeting
Ambassador Kees van Bar initiated discussions by seeking detailed insights into ACV’s current and planned initiatives, including major renovation, construction, and expansion projects across Vietnam’s aviation infrastructure. Of particular interest was ACV’s approach to sustainable and innovative airport operations, an area where the Netherlands sees strong potential for partnership.
The Long Thanh International Airport project emerged as a cornerstone of the discussions. This flagship initiative, poised to become one of Southeast Asia’s largest and most advanced aviation hubs, has garnered significant attention from Dutch enterprises.
Ambassador Kees van Bar emphasized the Netherlands’ interest in contributing to the success of this project, particularly through the integration of advanced technologies, smart airport systems, and cutting-edge logistics solutions. The ambassador highlighted that Dutch companies are eager to collaborate with ACV by sharing expertise in sustainable development and airport operations.
As part of the broader cooperation agenda, the Netherlands Embassy extended a formal invitation to ACV to participate in the “Economic Mission on Logistics (Airports and Seaports)” to Vietnam, an international event scheduled for November 2025, possibly led by the Netherlands Minister for Foreign Trade and Development. ACV has been invited to serve as a distinguished guest speaker at the event’s seminar, where it will share insights into Vietnam’s aviation sector, operational models, and development strategies. This participation is anticipated to provide Dutch businesses with a comprehensive understanding of Vietnam’s aviation industry while opening doors to future collaborations.
To complement the mission, the Netherlands Embassy proposed a field visit to the Long Thanh International Airport project site. This visit, scheduled for November, will offer Dutch enterprises an on-the-ground perspective of the project’s scale, innovation, and potential for partnership opportunities.
The meeting not only underscored mutual interests but also established a roadmap for tangible collaborations. By leveraging Dutch expertise in logistics and aviation technology, ACV aims to enhance Vietnam’s aviation sector, fostering innovation and sustainability in airport operations.
