The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) issued document No. 2319/CHK-QLC on June 20, 2025, to the People's Committee of Nghe An province and related industry units regarding the temporary suspension of operations at Vinh International Airport from 00:00 on July 1, 2025, to 23:59 on December 31, 2025 (local time).
This temporary closure is to facilitate the construction, supply, and installation of equipment for the project to repair the runway and taxiways at Vinh International Airport.
Vinh Airport to close from July 1, 2025, to the end of December 2025 for infrastructure investment, renovation, and upgrades.
As the managing entity, ACV and Vinh International Airport will fully comply with all legal regulations on investment and construction throughout the duration of the project. In particular, they will coordinate closely with the construction contractor to ensure strict adherence to the security, safety, fire prevention, and environmental sanitation plans approved by the CAAV. Furthermore, they will bear all responsibility for ensuring operational security and safety, fire and explosion prevention, environmental sanitation, labor safety, and disease prevention during the construction process.
ACV and Vinh International Airport will coordinate to provide data to the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) to carry out the necessary procedures for issuing Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) in accordance with current regulations. They will also coordinate with the Northern Airports Authority for comprehensive inspection and supervision during the construction process as required. Any issues that arise will be promptly reported to the CAAV for resolution and handling.
The upgrade of the runway and taxiways at Vinh International Airport is a crucial part of the national aviation infrastructure development strategy, aiming to enhance operational capacity and provide better and safer services for passengers.
