During the intense travel surge around Independence Day (September 2), ACV expects to serve over 1.8 million passengers and handle about 11,000 aircraft movements at its airports.
With the extended four-day holiday, passenger volume is forecast to climb significantly from August 29 to September 2. ACV has proactively prepared plans reflecting this surge. Overall, the network is expected to see approximately 11,000 aircraft movements, serving more than 1.8 million passengers.
For domestic operations, around 7,000 aircraft movements are projected, averaging 1,400 flights per day, a 7% increase over a typical day in August 2025 and 15% higher than the same period in 2024. Passenger volume is expected to reach 1.1 million, averaging 220,000 passengers daily, a 5% rise over August’s daily average and 10% more year-over-year. The busiest day is forecast as August 29, with 1,450 flights and 230,000 passengers.
On the international front, about 4,000 aircraft movements are anticipated, averaging 800 international operations daily, which is 1–2% higher than August norms and 10% more compared to last year. Passenger numbers are projected at 750,000, or 150,000 per day, up 2–3% over August’s norm and a sharp 20% increase year-on-year. Most of this traffic will concentrate at major international gateways such as Tan Son Nhat, Noi Bai, Da Nang, Cam Ranh and Phu Quoc.
At Tan Son Nhat International Airport, the daily average is projected at 125,000 passengers including 75,000 domestic and 50,000 internationals, reflecting a ~6% increase from the current average of 118,000. On peak days (specifically August 30 and September 2), this could rise to 750 flights and 130,000 passengers. To boost capacity, ACV has successfully moved domestic operations to Terminal 3 in coordination with airlines.
Noi Bai International Airport is seeing particularly strong international growth, with daily projections nearing 44,000 passengers, a record high. Domestic traffic is also surging. On its busiest day, Noi Bai could process nearly 110,000 passengers and 638 flights, representing a ~20% increase from the same period in 2024.
To handle the surge smoothly, ACV has meticulously prepared from infrastructure and equipment to staffing across all its airports. Safety and security are paramount, with close coordination alongside the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) and Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) to address any potential operational issues.
The integration of VNeID-based biometric systems is playing a critical role in enhancing speed, convenience, and security for passengers. Since July 31, 2025, ACV has rolled out biometric authentication at all airports nationwide, enabling rapid, secure check-in and security gate access.
Additional support staff have been deployed in key airport areas to assist with passenger flow, while foreign object debris (FOD) control and strict adherence to aviation safety protocols remain in full effect.
Through these comprehensive preparations, ACV aims to deliver safe, seamless, and high-quality journeys for all passengers during this significant national holiday.
