On the morning of December 29, 2019, Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) held the groundbreaking ceremony of Passenger Terminal T2 - Phu Bai International Airport.

Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh and leaders of ministries, branches, Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee leaders and ACV leaders conducted the groundbreaking ceremony to construct Passenger Terminal T2 - Phu Bai International Airport.

Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh delivered a speech and ordered to start the construction of Passenger Terminal T2 - Phu Bai International Airport.

The construction project of Passenger Terminal T2 - Phu Bai International Airport has a total investment of around 2,250 billion VND, extracted from the Development Investment Fund of ACV. The project includes passenger terminal; transport system; car parking and synchronous auxiliary items.

Chairman of ACV Lai Xuan Thanh delivered a speech at the ceremony

The terminal features a unique architectural style - an impeccable fusion of traditional and modern beauty. What completely stuns tourists coming to Phu Bai International Airport is the prominent architecture style which is highly characteristic of Imperial Hue ceramic multi-tiered roofs with delicately upward curves reflecting a strong desire for growth and prosperity.

Chairman of Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee Phan Ngoc Tho delivered a speech at the ceremony

The terminal is designed with three floors including 1st floor, an entresol, and 2nd floor. The 1st floor consists of arrival lobby, baggage claim, operation room, immigration area, customs, crew room, VIP lounge, lost and found, electrical room, security control room, medical room, service areas, and restrooms. The entresol has offices of airlines, ventilation room, and restrooms. The 2nd floor includes departure lobby, check-in area, security control, exit, boarding area, CIP lounge, offices, service area, and cleaning area.

The passenger terminal equips a system leading to aircrafts including four passenger boarding bridges (three of code C and a dual tunnel). The construction area and the total construction floor area are around 10,118m2 and 22,381m2, respectively. With modern equipment and advanced aviation technology, together with a capacity of 5 million passengers per year, including 4 million international passengers and 1 million domestic passengers, the passenger terminal T2 would provide many high-quality utilities to serve passengers as well as enable to serve 2,500 passengers in peak hour effectively. The project would be expected to put into operation in Q4/2021.
