On September 12, 2025, at the headquarters of Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), ACV’s senior leadership, led by Chairman of the Board of Directors Mr. Vu The Phiet, held a working session with the delegation from Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC), headed by Mr. Lee Hag-Jae – Chairman of the Board & CEO of IIAC.
Overview of the meeting
For many years, ACV and IIAC have maintained a strong cooperative relationship. Since 2019, the two parties have signed a “Sister Airport Agreement.” In 2024, ACV continued its partnership by signing a consultancy contract package on “Management and Operations Consulting for Long Thanh International Airport” with the Incheon Airport Consortium, led by IIAC and Vietnam’s PMI Consulting Services JSC.
At the meeting, ACV Chairman Vu The Phiet highly appreciated IIAC’s key contributions in the Long Thanh International Airport consultancy package, from developing the Concept of Operations (ConOps) and supporting the design of sub-processes, to advising on commercial policies and financial strategies. He emphasized that in the next phase, IIAC would continue to provide consultancy on trial ConOps implementation and operational transfer. He expressed ACV’s hope that IIAC would strengthen its personnel during the trial period to ensure the best preparation for the official operation of Long Thanh International Airport. Chairman Vu The Phiet also proposed expanding cooperation between ACV’s airports and Incheon International Airport, opening new routes between the two countries, and creating more collaboration opportunities in airport upgrade and expansion projects in Vietnam.

On behalf of IIAC, Chairman & CEO Lee Hag-Jae expressed his gratitude for ACV’s close coordination and strong support throughout their cooperation. He highlighted that IIAC has dispatched its top experts to participate in the Long Thanh International Airport Project, with particular attention to the upcoming trial operation phase. He affirmed that IIAC will allocate additional high-quality personnel to ensure progress, enhance efficiency, and meet the project’s stringent requirements. He also expressed the expectation that the two parties would further deepen and broaden their cooperation in the future, not only at the Long Thanh International Airport Project but also in other major expansion and upgrade projects of ACV and Vietnam’s aviation sector, thereby contributing to enhanced air connectivity between the two countries and across the region.

The meeting concluded in an open, sincere, and optimistic atmosphere, opening up new cooperation opportunities and further strengthening the strategic partnership between ACV and IIAC. During the discussions, both parties exchanged extensively on the Long Thanh International Airport Project and agreed to intensify cooperation with the goal of welcoming the airport’s first flight on December 19, 2025, and commencing commercial operations in the first half of 2026.

Incheon International Airport has consistently been ranked among the world’s best airports. In 2025, Incheon was named one of the Top 4 Best Airports globally by Skytrax. Most recently, IIAC was honored with the Level 5 Customer Experience Accreditation (the highest level) for the fourth consecutive time at the 7th Airport Experience Summit organized by Airports Council International (ACI) in Guangzhou, China.
