On 18th May 2016, Mr.Truong Quang Nghia – Minister of Transport had a meeting with Airports Corporation of Vietnam at its headquarter. Mr.Nguyen Nhat- Deputy Minister of Transport, Mr.Lai Xuan Thanh – Director of CAAV, leaders of VATM and Vietnam Airlines, etc.

At the meeting session, Mr.Nguyen Nguyen Hung – Chairman of ACV’s BOD has reported to Minister of Transport on business results during the last time and main objectives in 2016; proposal for solving difficulties and obstacles.

Minister of Transport Truong Quang Nghia had a meeting with Airports Corporation of Vietnam.

ACV is responsible for investment and operation of 22 airports nationwide, of which 9 are international airports and 13 are domestic airports, also providing capital contribution to subsidiaries and affiliates.

At the instruction of industrialization and mordernization of aviation industry in accordance with planning of the Government and Ministry of Transport, from 2012 until now, in the course of limited State Budget, ACV has been forcusing on investments of thousands of billions VND (mainly from investment and development Fund of ACV) to modernize airports system nationwide.

ACV has been implementing several large-scale projects such as  Noi Bai Int’l Airport: International passenger terminal building T2, Executive Building VIP A, expansion project of passenger terminal building T1; Tan Son Nhat Int’l airport: improvement and expansion project of domestic terminal, expansion project of int’l terminal and apron; passenger building terminal – Cat Bi Int’l airport; passenger building terminal – Vinh Int’l airport; construction projects of airfield of Tuy Hoa airport, Tho Xuan Airport and Phu Bai Airport; improvement project of Pleiku Airport, building a new airport – Phu Quoc Int’l Airport, etc. increasing the total handling capacity of ACV from 45 MPA (2012) to over 80 MPA (2016).

Almost airports have been invested advanced facilities, including Instrument Landing System, lighting system for night flights, automatic meteorological system, surveillance camera system, etc.

Putting those projects into operation has created favorable conditions for airlines to increase flights, opening new routes, which makes air transport market bustling, high growth, meet the travel needs of passengers.

In the first 4 months of 2016, ACV’s business activities have maintained high development  growth: accommodating over 25 million passengers, increased by 31% compared to that of in last year; facilitating 335 thousand ton, increased by 6% compared to that of in last year; and serving 176 thousand flights, increased by 35% compared to that of in last year, ensuring the absolute safety for all flight and flight activities in every condition, continuously improving the passenger service quality.

In order to interface with the overloaded situation of Tan Son Nhat International Airport, ACV has been implementing the expansion project of international terminal building of this airport, increasing the capacity form 10MPA to 15MPA; expansion project of apron, increasing up to 54 the aircraft parking stands. Furthermore, ACV has been doing research to expand the domestic terminal to increase the handling capacity from 15MPA up to 20MPA; and plan on connecting traffic with.

 ACV is focusing on conducting major projects at Da Nang Int’l airport, Cam Ranh Int’l airport, Phu Quoc Int’l airport, Phu Cat Airport, Chu Lai Airport, etc. in order to meet the increasing demand of air traffic.

At Da Nang Int’l airport, ACV has been carrying out plenty of projects to promptly serve for APEC in the end of the year 2017, such as, building a new international terminal building with the handling capacity of 4MPA; VIP A Executive Building, expanding apron to increase the aircraft parking stand from 15 up to 26, etc.

Besides, ACV is focusing to make a feasibility study report on Long Thanh Int’l airport at planned.

Mr. Truong Quang Nghia has praised ACV for its business results during the last time, especially investment in infrastructure development at airports, and he has also certified ACV’s proposals.

Mr. Truong Quang Nghia has required ACV, VATM, VNA to ensure absolute safety for all flights and flight activities in every conditions; especially request ACV to continue working with HCMC Department of Transport and relevant agencies to propose the plan on opening road to/from TSN Airport to reduce traffic jam for Truong Son Street.
