The Minister of Construction has just signed Decision No. 1572/QĐ-BXD on the temporary closure of Ca Mau Airport in Tan Thanh Ward, Ca Mau Province for one year to implement construction items under the Project to expand and upgrade Ca Mau Airport, invested by Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV). The temporary closure period is from 07:00 on October 30, 2025 to 23:59 on October 31, 2026 (local time).
The Ministry of Construction assigns the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) to be responsible for publishing the temporary closure of the airport on the aeronautical information notification system in accordance with regulations, notifying local authorities and relevant agencies and units; and directing the organization and implementation of remedial measures and the handling of related issues.
Ca Mau Airport will suspend operations from 07:00 on October 30, 2025 to carry out upgrade and expansion works.
Previously, on August 19, ACV held the groundbreaking for the Project to expand and upgrade Ca Mau Airport, with the objective of expanding and upgrading Ca Mau Airport to ensure the operation of modern aircraft types such as the A320, A321 and equivalents. The project is implemented with ACV’s capital, with a total investment of approximately VND 2,400 billion; the implementation schedule is to complete and put into operation in October 2026.
This is a Class I aviation transport facility with a scope including the following main items:
- Construction of a runway with dimensions of 2,400 m x 45 m, with a cement concrete pavement structure, ensuring the operation of A320/A321 aircraft and equivalents;
- Construction of a taxiway connecting the runway and the aircraft apron, 128 m in length, with a standard width of 15 m, with a cement concrete structure, ensuring the operation of A320/A321 aircraft and equivalents;
- Construction of an aircraft apron with dimensions of 182 m x 112.5 m, with a cement concrete pavement structure, ensuring accommodation of 03 stand positions for A320/A321 aircraft and equivalents;
- Renovation and expansion of the existing passenger terminal, increasing capacity to 500,000 domestic passengers per year, expandable to 01 million passengers per year when needed;
- Construction of synchronized ancillary works including a road connecting the passenger terminal and the aircraft apron; a patrol road; the airside drainage system; the fence system and the fence security camera and lighting systems; a precision landing system; and the aeronautical signage and lighting system.

The project “Expansion and Upgrade of Ca Mau Airport,” upon completion, will help Ca Mau Airport improve operational efficiency and meet new technical standards, as well as contribute to better serving the socio-economic development and national defense and security needs of the region.
